The author blames the rise of fascism on the inability of social democrats to transform the bourgeois state in a revolutionary-democratic form, therefore strengthening the fascistic tendencies in the population. The analysis of B. Irlen is the attempt to view fascism not from a liberal, but a socialist world view. He argues that in order to defeat fascism, one has to overcome its ideology first. With liberalism this cannot be achieved. The origins of fascism as a movement of the people are also analyzed.
