The state and the church in Germany
The state and the church in Germany
1 electronic resource (38 pages)
The article discusses the situation of the Church in Germany. In the beginning chapters it gives an overview of the agenda of the publication, its finances, activities and mission statement. Separate chapters discuss the church of Finland, exaggerated Nationalism by Cardinal Archbishop Bertram of Breslau, Anti-Religious movements in France, an international police force, book reviews and the chapter on the state and the church in Germany. It describes and tries to report the mood in the German population without giving a personal opinion. Nevertheless, concern about where Germany is headed is palpable. The author also questions why only the Catholic church protested the treatment of Jews, especially baptized Jews and why the Protestant church remained quiet. The precarious state of the Protestant church opposite the State is emphasized as well as the growing influence of the Nazi backed"German Christian".
