The Second survey on the affairs of the continental churches (March 1st, 1934 to June 30th, 1935) discusses the situation of the Protestant Churches in Germany and their position towards the government. The 28 theses promulgated at the Synod of the Saxon Church on December 13th, 1933 are reprinted and discussed. The events of the Synods of Barmen, Augsburg and Dahlem are analyzed. On October 30th, Hitler declared a separation of evangelical church and state, a connection that endured since the Reformation. Grave concerns of the impact of a disconnect between youth and Christian teachings are voiced. Furthermore, it is claimed that German paganism is becoming more mainstream. Short biographies of the main representatives are provided (Hauer, Bergmann and Rosenberg). A separate chapter is dedicated to other continental churches: The Old Catholic church, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Scandinavia, Baltic states, and Czechoslovakia.
