משרד הבחירות ב-Berlin הוקם בשנת 1873 במטרה לפקח על הליכי הבחירות בעיר. לאחר איחוד כל פרברי העיר למסגרת עירונית אחת, פוצל המשרד ב-1920: הוקמו משרד בחירות ראשי במסגרת העירייה הראשית ומשרדי בחירות במחוזות העיר השונים. מטרת המשרד הראשי הייתה ניהול אחיד של הבחירות ברמה המקומית והארצית, הכנת טופסי הבחירות, איסוף התוצאות ופיקוח על הוצאות הבחירות של העירייה. על המשרדים המחוזיים הוטל טיפול בענייני הבחירות המקומיים שלא הוכללו בתחום סמכות המשרד הראשי. במהלך השנים טיפל המשרד בבחירות ובמשאלי עם, בהם בחירות לבתי דין מסחריים (Kaufmannsgericht ו-Gewerbegericht) ולמנהל ביטוח השכירים (Angestelltenversicherung). המשרד עסק גם בניהול רשימות מושבעים.

The Elections Office in Berlin was established in 1873 with the aim of supervising the elections process in the city. Following the unification of all of the city's suburbs into one municipal framework, the office was subdivided in 1920 into the main elections office in the central municipal office, and elections offices that were established in the city's various districts. The purpose of the main elections office was the unified administration of the elections on a local and a national level, to prepare the election forms, to collect the elections results, and to supervise the expenses of the municipal elections. The district elections offices were imposed with the handling of matters related to the local elections which were not included in the main office's area of authority. Over the course of time, the office handled elections and referendums, including elections to the Commercial Courts (Kaufmannsgericht and Gewerbegericht) and the Employees Insurance Administration (Angestelltenversicherung). The office also dealt with the administration of jurors lists."@en ;
