Dr. Hans Borgs-Maciejewski was a Catholic philologist and educator. He was born in Duesseldorf in 1898, and resided in Wuppertal-Elberfeld for most of his life. He became interested in newspapers at an early age and collected newspaper clippings, in most part from Catholic newspapers in the Rhineland. Upon Hitler's rise to power, Borgs-Maciejewski decided to focus mainly on the Nazi regime, dedicating his efforts to the collection of newspaper clippings from publications in the Rhineland and Berlin that dealt with political viewpoints, and in particular in the area of the politics of culture.
After the war, the collection was copied onto microfilms with help from the Rhineland government. Copies of the collection were donated to various research institutes. The original collection was donated to the Institut für Zeitgeschichte – IfZ (Institute of Contemporary History) in Munich.
In the collection are newspaper clippings and German periodicals, including:
- Catholic cultural periodicals, including “Neue Reich” and “Schönere Zukunft”;
- A large number of copies of the “Weltbühne” periodical;
- Newspaper clippings reflecting the political spectrum in the Rhineland, starting from 1935;

Dr. Hans Borgs-Maciejewski היה פילולוג ומחנך קתולי שנולד ב-Duesseldorf ב-1898, וחי רוב שנותיו ב-Wuppertal-Elberfeld. מגיל צעיר התעניין בעיתונות ואסף קטעי עיתונים, בעיקר מעיתונים קתוליים בחבל הריין. עם עליית היטלר לשלטון החליט להתמקד במעקב אחר השלטון הנאצי, והקדיש מאמצים לאיסוף קטעי עיתונים מכתבי עת בחבל הריין ומברלין, העוסקים בהיבטים הפוליטיים, ובעיקר בתחום הפוליטיקה של התרבות.
לאחר המלחמה צולם האוסף במיקרופילם בסיוע הממשל של חבל הריין. עותקי האוסף נתרמו למוסדות מחקר שונים. המקור נתרם ל-IfZ (המכון להיסטוריה בת זמננו) במינכן.
באוסף קטעי עיתונים וכתבי עת גרמניים ובכללם:
- כתבי עת תרבותיים-קתוליים, כולל “Neue Reich” ו\"Schönere Zukunf\";
- עותקים רבים של כתב העת “Weltbühne”;
- קטעי עיתונים המשקפים את כלל הגוונים הפוליטיים בחבל הריין החל מ-1935.
