Borgs-Maciejewski collection of newspapers on the subject of the Nazis, 1921-1950 Dr. Hans Borgs-Maciejewski was a Catholic philologist and educator. He was born in Duesseldorf in 1898, and resided in Wuppertal-Elberfeld for most of his life. He became interested in newspapers at an early age and collected newspaper clippings, in most part from Catholic newspapers in the Rhineland. Upon Hitler's rise to power, Borgs-Maciejewski decided to focus mainly on the Nazi regime, dedicating his efforts to the collection of newspaper clippings from publications in the Rhineland and Berlin that dealt with political viewpoints, and in particular in the area of the politics of culture. After the war, the collection was copied onto microfilms with help from the Rhineland government. Copies of the collection were donated to various research institutes. The original collection was donated to the Institut für Zeitgeschichte – IfZ (Institute of Contemporary History) in Munich. In the collection are newspaper clippings and German periodicals, including: - Catholic cultural periodicals, including “Neue Reich” and “Schönere Zukunft”; - A large number of copies of the “Weltbühne” periodical; - Newspaper clippings reflecting the political spectrum in the Rhineland, starting from 1935; Included in the file: - Excerpts from the diary of Carl von Ossietzki, from 1924-1932.
