Documentation regarding the financial problems of the JDC in Europe during the war, including data about the JDC's expenses on behalf of the Jewish refugees in Switzerland and other countries; documents dated, 1941-1946 Note: The JDC organization gave support to the activities of Jewish welfare organizations in Switzerland and in other countries in Europe, but the weakness of the dollar during the war and the refusal by the Swiss International Bank to receive dollars in exchange for Swiss francs burdened the JDC's activities in Europe; Saly Mayer made use of loans in European countries in large sums of local currency, in exchange for a promise that the debt would be paid back in dollars after the war.
