The Record Group contains extensive legal documentation prepared during criminal investigations and trials conducted against Nazi criminals in West Germany and East Germany.
The documentation is mainly from two sources:
1. The Zentrale Stelle der Landesjustizwaltungen (Central Office of the State Justice Administrations for the Investigation of National Socialist Crimes) in Ludwigsburg, West Germany: The basic investigatory materials that were transferred afterwards to the local States Attorneys for use in preparation of the trials are included in the documentation. From the trials themselves, which were held throughout the country, the documentation was photocopied selectively; for some of the files, there are only the indictments and verdicts.
2. The STASI Archive in East Germany: Complete files were photocopied there (even if not all the files photocpoied were related to the process), including investigatory materials and legal documentation (protocols of the trial, testimonies and more).
Included in the files:
- Legal documentation: indictments and verdicts, protocols of trials and correspondence between the investigating bodies (the local States Attorneys in West Germany, the Security Bureau in East Germany);
- Evidentiary materials: Information gathered during the investigation regarding Nazi criminals including many testimonies, copies of documents from the Nazi period, maps and photographs of sites at which crimes were committed, interrogations of criminals;
- Reports of experts prepared for the trial such as reports from the Military History Research Institute in East Germany, with historical background and much information regarding the activities of various units in the repressive German system and the German Army and their involvement in the crimes.
In the files from East Germany there is documentation regarding crimes committed in the area of the former Soviet Union. There are translations from Russian of reports submitted by local committees that documented the crimes of the Nazis immediately after the liberation and details from Soviet trials conducted against German criminals that were held in the early years after the war."@en , "TR.10 - כתבי אישום, פסקי דין ודוחות חקירה ממשפטים של פושעים נאצים, גרמניה
בכלל החטיבה תיעוד משפטי בהיקף רב שהוכן בעת חקירות פליליות ומשפטים נגד פושעים נאצים בגרמניה המערבית וגרמניה המזרחית.
התיעוד הגיע ברובו משני מקורות:
1. המשרד המרכזי של המנהלים המשפטיים של המדינות (Zentrale Stelle der Landesjustizwaltungen)
ב-Ludwigsburg שבמערב גרמניה. בכלל התיעוד חומרי החקירה הבסיסיים שהועברו לאחר מכן לפרקליטויות מקומיות לצורך הכנת המשפט. מהמשפטים עצמם שנערכו ברחבי המדינה. התיעוד ממקור זה צולם באופן סלקטיבי, בחלק מהתיקים קיימים רק כתבי האישום ופסקי הדין.
2. ארכיון ה-STASI במזרח גרמניה - ממקור זה צולמו תיקים מלאים (אם כי לא תמיד כל התיקים הנוגעים להליך המשפטי), ובהם חומרי החקירה והתיעוד המשפטי (פרוטוקולים של המשפט, עדויות ועוד).
בכלל התיקים:
- תיעוד משפטי: כתבי אישום ופסקי דין, פרוטוקולים של משפטים והתכתבויות של גורמי החקירה (הפרקליטויות המקומיות במערב גרמניה, המשרד לביטחון המדינה במזרח גרמניה).
- חומרי ראיות: מידע שנאסף במהלך החקירה על אודות פשעים נאציים ובכללו עדויות רבות, עותקי מסמכים מהתקופה נאצית, מפות ותצלומים של אתרים שבהם ביצעו פשעים, חקירות פושעים.
- דוחות של מומחים שהוכנו לקראת המשפט כגון דוחות של המכון להיסטוריה צבאית במזרח גרמניה, שבהם רקע היסטורי ומידע רב על אודות פעילות של יחידות שונות במנגנון הדיכוי הגרמני והצבא הגרמני ומעורבותן בפשעים.
בתיקים ממזרח גרמניה תיעוד על אודות פשעים שבוצעו בשטחי ברית המועצות. יש תרגומים מרוסית של דוחות של ועדות מקומיות שתיעדו את פשעי הנאצים מיד לאחר השחרור, פרטים ממשפטים סובייטיים נגד פושעים גרמנים שנערכו בשנים הראשונות לאחר המלחמה."@he ;
