Leopold Plaschkes' fight to defend the legitimate civil rights of the Jews of Austriaa and recognition of their representation in the parliamentary life of the country; his conflict with the assimilationist factions and steadfastness to the Zionist idea and its realization through aliya to Eretz Israel; Plaschkes' personal biography ends in Haifa after his aliya, 1938; the biography illustrates the events that occurred to Austrian Jewry in its internal ideological and political struggle until the start of the Nazi period.
