"The Hungarian Jewish Archive offers an important selection of sources documenting the reactions and testimonies of Hungarian Jewish victims. These sources are in various genres and from different times (i.e. there are both contemporaneous and postwar materials among them). Among the contemporaneous sources, there are several diaries that were kept in the first half of the 1940s. The collection also contains a wide selection of partly published but mostly unpublished later recollections by Jewish survivors of the Holocaust era. These recollections were penned during the communist period and include, among others, testimonies of former Kőrösmező deportee (who were deported from Hungary to Nazi-occupied territory already in the summer of 1941 but managed to survive) and also memoirs submitted in reaction to the request of the Hungarian Jewish journal Új Élet in 1966. Moreover, the collection contains a dossier of documents on the Kistarcsa internment camp, the largest such camp in Hungary. These documents were created in the years 1945 to 1961."@eng .
