Envelope addressed to Sam Freud sent from Vienna. The date stamp is faint, but appears to read 3 Jan 1929, which would relate to the postcard of the same date [see GB 133 SSF/1/1/61]. Also included are two newspaper cuttings of photographs of Sigmund Freud, the second of which could possibly be one of the cuttings mentioned in the postcard of 3 Jan 1929. The first cutting shows the portrait photograph of Freud taken by Max Halberstadt, 1936, captioned in italics:"'A great deal that passes for Freudianism in the popular mind is a poisonous doctrine that was never taught by Freud". On the reverse of the cutting is a handwritten note:"The Outlook - Nov 28th 120 - E. 16th St. New Yor". For a copy of the Max Halberstadt photograph, see GB 133 SSF/2/1/7. The second cutting is a photograph of Freud boarding a plane in Berlin, taken on 29 Oct 1928, captioned:"Dr. Sigmund Freud of Vienna, famous psycho-[a]nalist, starts for his first flight in an airplane from the Tempelhof Field in Berlin" For an account of this flight, see GB 133 SSF/1/1/60.
