        rico:history               "Julius Gummers was born on 18 March 1900 in Heilbronn as Julius Gummersheimer. He studied dentistry in Tübingen, where he qualified as a dentist. Hecame to Britain via France and Spain in March 1937. He was granted permission by the Home Office to practice dentistry under the condition that he would not settle in London. His full naturalization by the Secretary of State came in to effect in May 1947. Therefore he settled in Glasgow where his son Andrew was born and raised.
