The collection is arranged into three sub-groups: copy material, the originals of which are in held in the Berlin Document Centre. (these include such items as Mengele's war record, cv, and material relating to his marriage); copy material mostly written by Mengele and copy material about Mengele
the originals of the correspondence between him and family members in Germany throughout the 1970s are apparently in the possession of the Mengele family
