Peter de Mendelssohn (1908-1982) was a British-German writer and historian. Due to his Jewish background he had emigrated to Austria in 1933 and later to London. He reported from the Nuremberg trials and played a vital role in establishing a democratic press system in post-war West Germany. De Mendellsohn was married to Jewish-Austrian writer Hilde Spiel.
