Dr Carl Heinz Lüders (1913-2006) was a high ranking West German state official and closely acquainted with Alfred Wiener. Having served in Judicial service since 1937 he became a prisoner of war and worked for the British Army and administration from 1944. Since 1949 he held a high position in the West German Ministry of Interior. In the late 1950s he was appointed to the Foreign office and served as a diplomat in Ghana, Luxemburg and the Soviet Union.

Containing widely personal information and illustrating therewith the friendly association of Lüders and Alfred Wiener the correspondence focuses on private meetings between the families, discussions of current political affairs and events, the exchange of information on certain individuals and published materials. From 1962 Lüders corresponds with C.C. Aronsfeld, mainly on the intended extradition of former SS-physician and war criminal Horst Schumann from Ghana to West Germany.
The correspondence contains two telegrams, two postcards by Lüders, and two not dated writings.
