Prof. Dr. Hans Liebeschütz (1893-1978) was a Jewish-German historian and medievalist. After being imprisoned in Sachsenhausen concentration camp in the wake of the November Pogrom 1938 the World War I veteran had emigrated to England. Since the mid-1940s he taught at Liverpool University. He became one of the co-founders of the Leo Baeck Institute in 1955.
