Founded by former anti-Nazi resistance fighters in 1953 the Komitee der Antifaschistischen Widerstandskämpfer was an East German organisation tasked with the cultivation of anti-fascist traditions. It was closely related with the SED, the communist party.

Correspondence mainly with Rudolf Wunderlich, former Anti-Nazi resistance fighter and survivor of Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Aside from the consignment of published material by the Committee the letters focus on enquiries for archival material from The Wiener Library. This includes an exhibition related request for photographs from Sachsenhausen concentration camp for the new Sachsenhausen memorial to be built (1960) as well as a request for a report about Flossenbürg concentration camp related to the trial of a former inmate of this very camp (1962). Contained is a New Year card from 1960.
