Prof. Dr. Robert Max Wasilii Kempner (1899-1993) was an internationally regarded legal expert of Jewish-German origin. He had fled the Nazis to Italy, France, and the US eventually. As a member of the Unites States War Crimes Commission (UNWCC) he later served as prosecutor during the Nuremberg Trials. He is also credited with finding the Wannsee Protocol in 1947.

Contained are copies of thank you notes to Kempner by West German president Heinrich Lübke as well as the Minister for All German Affairs Ernst Lemmer (1961).
