Joseph Melzer was a Jewish-German Bookseller and publisher who had emigrated to Palestine in 1932. In 1958 he returned to West Germany and founded the Joseph Melzer publishing house in Cologne.

Contained is a two letter correspondence with the Entschädigungsamt (department for restitution claims) in West Berlin (1958).
