The general secretary of the German League for Human Rights and friend of Carl von Ossietzky left the country in 1933 and settled in the US eventually. After the war he campaigned for the World Jewish Congress, the Jewish Agency and the Claims Conference. A prolific writer, he also authored numerous books, newspaper and journal articles.
