In the aftermath of the Holocaust numerous local and regional active Gesellschaften für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit (societies for Christian-Jewish cooperation) had been established throughout postwar (West) Germany. They are invested in Jewish-Christian collaboration and the fight of Antisemitism, and are represented in the umbrella organisation Deutscher Koordinierungsrat der Gesellschaft für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit. This is the correspondence with the Bielefeld chapter.

The correspondence reflects the long-term relationship between the Library and the Bielefeld chapter of the Gesellschaft für Christlich-Jüdische Zusammenarbeit, mainly represented by Holocaust survivor Lotte Daltrop. Beside personal matters and the exchange of materials three aspects deserve particular reference: a public talk by Alfred Wiener at the conference ‘Woche der Brüderlichkeit’ (1955); the acquisition and screening of a documentary; and the involvement of Lotte Daltrop in the Library’s eyewitness testimony project (from 1955 onwards). The latter refers to the recording of accounts from survivors living in the region, including her own experiences. Furthermore, the question of housing young Germans in London is briefly touched upon(1960).Aside from letters the correspondence contains two post cards and a list of the Jewish populations in numerous countries around the globe.
