Dr Bruno Weil (1883-1961) was a jurist and liberal politician of Jewish-German descent. A member of the Kartell-Convent (K.C.) student fraternities and vice president of the Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens (C.V.) since 1926, he was well acquainted with Alfred Wiener. Weil left Germany in 1935. Before settling in the US eventually, he had visited South America to explore immigration options for German Jews.

The correspondence comprises reports about Jewry and Jewish life in certain South American or Caribbean countries, press cuttings, undated documents, and transcripts of a radio show of Weil as well as a public talk given by him.
