Correspondence with Schweizerischer Israelitischer Gemeindebund (SIG)
420 items
Documenting the close association between both institutions the correspondence - mostly with the SIG's PR department ‘JUNA’ - deals with various issues. Beside the mutual gathering and dissemination of information on numerous matters recurring subjects are: the SIG’s annual grant for The Wiener Library; monitoring and fight of Antisemitism, including cases related to Swiss antisemites René Sonderegger (1953) and Francois Genoud (1953-1956) as well as German director Veit Harlan (1954-1962); arrangements for a series of talks to be given by Alfred Wiener in Jewish communities in Switzerland (1953-1954); the consignment of material by SIG, including published and unpublished eyewitness accounts of Holocaust survivors and archival material on the Bern trial in 1933-35 (1959).
Beside letters the correspondence contains newspaper cuttings, transcripts and photo copies, memos and reports, an SIG circular, telegrams, and a survey on the antisemitic movie Jud Süβ.
