								Prof. Dr. Hans Rothfels (1891-1976) was an eminent conservative German historian who had converted from Judaism to Protestantism in 1910. In 1939 he emigrated to the UK and later to the US. He returned to West Germany after the Second World War and became a key figure in establishing the field of contemporary history. See Hürter, J. and H.
