Harry Harrison (1910-1989), formerly Heinz Nadel, was born into a Jewish family in Berlin and became a house father at a Jewish orphanage in Berlin-Pankow. He fled to Great Britain in 1939 and later joined the British Army- Pioneer Corps and later the British Intelligence where he was involved in the distribution of anti-Nazi propaganda material. He was at Bergen Belsen Displaced Persons camp where he catered to the needs of the recently liberated camp population. His brother escaped to Australia before the war.
