This collection contains the family papers of the Berghausens, a Jewish family from Hanover. Some members of the family lived in London since the beginning of the 20th century and enabled their relatives to emigrate in 1939, thereby avoiding further Nazi persecutions.

Family papers including Betti and Max Berghausen's qualifications, work references, certificate of origin ('Heimatschein'), marriage certificate, naturalisation certificate (1906) and national registration cards. Also included are Henny Herzberg's last will and papers collected in preparation for emigration such as medical certificate, list of belongings and passport, as well as deed of donation relating to the estate of Joseph and Helene Elsässer.
