Danach folgten Stellungs- und Abwehrkämpfe im Bereich der Heeresgruppe Süd und Rückzug zum Dnjepr (Kriwoj Rog) und Bug. Juni 1944 wurde das Korps vorübergehend auch als Gruppe von Knobelsdorff und Juli und November 1944 sowie Januar 1945 als Gruppe Kirchner bezeichnet. Nach den Abwehrkämpfen am Pruth und Sereth (Roman) und in Südungarn kämpfte es mit der 6. Armee im Raum Stuhlweißenburg und Komarom und Ende Januar 1945 bei der Heeresgruppe Mitte in Schlesien und der Lausitz."@de ;
