In the early 1950s the collection was transferred to the administration of the Study Institute of the Ministry of the Interior. The fonds was transferred to the State Central Archives (now the National Archives) in Prague on 3 November 1988.
Počátkem 50. let 20. století fond přešel do správy Studijního ústavu Ministerstva vnitra. Do Státního ústředního archivu (dnes Národního archivu) v Praze byl fond předán dne 3. listopadu 1988.

The fonds is one of the most important archival collections documenting the activities of the Czechoslovak emigration in London between 1940 and 1945.
It contains documents relating to the issues of war criminals, citizenship, etc. The Ministry was also involved in the registration of passports, Czechoslovak emigration in other countries, repatriation issues, etc.
The 4th Department of the Ministry, whose task was, among other things, political intelligence, in cooperation with the 2nd Department of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tried to document the situation in the Protectorate, in Slovakia, and in Germany. This activity resulted in a large body of documents.

Fond patří mezi nejvýznamnější archivní soubory, které dokumentují činnost československé emigrace v Londýně v letech 1940–1945.
Jsou v něm uloženy dokumenty týkající se problematiky válečných zločinců, státního občanství atd. Ministerstvo se také věnovalo evidenci pasové agendy, zabývalo se československou emigrací v jiných státech, otázkami repatriace atd.
4. odbor ministerstva, jehož úkolem bylo mj. politické zpravodajství, ve spolupráci s 2. odborem Ministerstva národní obrany a s Ministerstvem zahraničních věcí, se snažil dokumentovat situaci v protektorátě, na Slovensku, a i v Německu. Z této činnosti vznikl rozsáhlý soubor písemností.

Fond je částečně přístupný.
Písemnosti fondu nebyly nově fyzicky uspořádány a nebyl rekonstruován původní stav, který by odpovídal vnitřní struktuře a organizaci ministerstva. Byla snaha jednotlivé popisy složek seřadit tak, aby vytvářely logicky uspořádaný soubor, který odpovídá organizaci ministerstva a jeho spisové služby. Vycházelo se z poslední organizační struktury úřadu zavedené 5. června 1943.
Jednotlivé popisy složek, které jsou inventárními jednotkami, byly roztříděny podle obsahu dokumentů do skupin, jež odpovídají působnosti základních organizačních jednotek ministerstva. Uvnitř těchto skupin pak byly uspořádány tematicky podle náplně činnosti.
The records of the fonds have not been physically reorganized and the original condition has not been reconstructed to reflect the internal structure and organization of the Department. An attempt was made to arrange the individual file descriptions to form a logically arranged file that corresponds to the organisation of the Ministry and its filing service. This was based on the latest organisational structure of the Office, which was established on 5 June 1943.
The individual file descriptions, which are inventory units, have been classified according to the content of the documents into groups corresponding to the remit of the Ministry's basic organisational units. Within these groups, they were then arranged thematically according to the scope of their activities.

Po ustanovení prozatímní československé vlády v Londýně v červenci 1940 se postupně začal budovat i úřad Ministerstva vnitra. Nejprve se utvářely jednotlivé referáty, které se přeměnily na odbory.
Vývoj událostí a stále naléhavější potřeba dokumentárně podchytit a shromáždit materiál politické povahy týkající se zahraničního odboje, domácího odboje a perzekuce československých občanů ve vlasti, jakož i zahájení přípravných prací pro obnovení činnosti Ministerstva vnitra ve všech oblastech jeho působnosti, si vynutily zřízení
odboru politického a státně-bezpečnostního.
Po ustanovení československé vlády v Košicích ukončilo Ministerstvo vnitra v Londýně svou činnost a začalo provádět likvidaci úřadu.
Following the establishment of the Provisional Czechoslovak Government in London in July 1940, the Home Office gradually began to be built up. At first, individual departments were formed, which were transformed into departments.
The development of events and the increasingly urgent need to document and collect material of a political nature relating to foreign resistance, domestic resistance and the persecution of Czechoslovak citizens in their homeland, as well as the start of preparatory work for the resumption of the activities of the Ministry of the Interior in all areas of its remit, necessitated the establishment of
the Political and State Security Department.
After the establishment of the Czechoslovak government in Košice, the Ministry of the Interior in London ceased its activities and began to liquidate the office.
