They were seperated and spent the rest of the war in various camps. Both were liberated by the Russians and slowly started the trek westward back into Germany. During this, at a rest station, Marie (Mika) and Adolf found each other - both were half dead. They did regain strength and a certain degree of health, although both were ill for the rest of their lives.
