On 31 March 2022, Sarah Van Camp kindly gifted Kazerne Dossin 1 drawing in this collection.
Portrait of Jewish philosopher Simone Weil dated 15 October 2015 by Brussels-based artist Atang (Danny Tingwai Pang). He donated the work to Sarah Van Camp for her birthday in 2018. Sarah Van Camp wants to give the work and the artist, who honours Simone Weil and her work, more visibility, hence her decision to donate the work. Atang studied graphic design and illustration at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Brussels. After his studies in the 1990s, he worked briefly as an illustrator but quickly switched to professional graphic design. At the end of 2014, after a personal crisis, he decided to quit this. In order to regain a sense of purpose in life, he started following a clearly defined path back from his studies: to start drawing again and then to paint as well. His first major drawing project consisted of a series of portraits of philosophers that he made in the autumn and winter of 2015: drawings in India ink in A4 and A3 format, and larger works in charcoal on paper on canvas measuring 70 by 100 cm, of which the portrait of Simone Weil was one. The process and duration of creation varied from work to work, but the inspiration for this work came easily and he completed it in two hours. The works were exhibited at Recyclart Arts Centre in Brussels in January - February 2016 and at La Reduiste in Redu at the end of March 2016.
