ca. 1930
Both photos of their deported loved ones were treasured by the Bibersztein family during and after the war.
Szlama Bibersztein was born in Poland in 1902. He became a shoemaker and emigrated to Belgium in 1919. Here, he married Fajga Teperman. The couple lived in Brussels and since they were only religiously married, their three children officially carried their mother's name : Jeanne Teperman (born in 1926), Marie Teperman (born in 1934) and Henri Teperman (born in 1936). In July 1942 Jeanne Teperman/Bibersztein and her father Szlama Bibersztein received an Arbeitseinsatzbefehl (convocation for forced labour) and presented themselves 'voluntarily' at the Dossin barracks. Both of them were deported via transport I and perished. Fajga Teperman and her two youngest children, Marie and Henri, survived the war.
