Tver Center of Documentation of Contemporary History was established in 1991, on the basis of the Communist Party Oblast Committee Archive that existed in Tver from 1936.  

Archive contains around 1 million of the archival folders mainly produced in the years 1917-1999. Main group of the archival resources are documents of the various branches of the Communist Party in the Region from the years 1917-1991. Among archival resources researcher can find biographical documents of the local pre-Revolutionary period activists of the Bolshevik Party (f.e. A. Zhdanov) as well as the biographical documents of the partisans from the years 1941-1945. Researchers can find also various regional documents of the German occupation authorities the period of 1941-1945. Archive contains various personal documents of regional Communist Party members.  

Reading Room of the Center is opened from Tuesday to Thursday, between 9.00 am and 5.30 pm. On Friday Center is opened between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.

Center has no facilities which allow to copy archival documents.
