rico:history "Center of Documentation of Contemporary History of the Kabardin-Balkar Republic was established in 1991, on the basis of the Archive of the Communist Party of Kabardin-Balkar Republic. \r\nArchive of the Communist Party of Kabardin-Balkar Republic was established in 1939, on the basis of the Communist Party Institute (Istpart) archives that were created in 1922. \r\n\r\nIn October 1942, most of the archive documents were destroyed the German occupying army. Only small minority of the archival resources were evacuated before to Tbilisi. Thus most of the pre World War II documentation was lost. \r\n\r\nIn 1970s the staff of the Communist Party Archive copied various pre 1939 documents from other Soviet local and central archives, enlarging the collection of the archive.
