State Archive of Contemporary History of Kaliningrad Oblast was established in 1991, on the basis of the former regional branch of the Communist Party Archive.
Communist Party Archive of the Kaliningrad Oblast was established in 1949. From its very beginning it collected documents from all of the Communist Party and Komsomol institutions from the region.
In 2019 the State Archive of the Contemporary History of Kaliningrad Oblast ceased to exist, being united with the Kaliningrad Oblast State Archive
