State Archive of Belgorod Oblast was established in 1954 together with the Belgorod Oblast itself. It started to collect archival documents only in 1966 when it had obtained building suitable for its activity. Then it had received material referring to the Belgorod Oblast from the Voronezh and Kursk archives where it was stored. In 1995 archive had obtained new building where it exists until today.

Archive holds 2131 record groups, 600 000 archival folders from the period 1710-2008. In addition it had 14284 archival folders of the photo documents.
Archive holds collection of the documents referring to the history of the Belgorod region from 1710 until the present day.
