rico:generalDescription "The State Archive in Lublin possesses about 3500 collections and archival founds, which makes more than 1 200 000 units and 12 000 running meters. The oldest document in the archive is the location privilege of king Władysław the Elbow-High for the city of Lublin from 1317. There are important judicial records from XVI-XVIII century, the municipal records and guilds books of the city of Lublin from the same epoch, documents of monasteries and parishes. From the XIX century there are rich collections of the records of Russian administration and judiciary, as well as of Catholic and Orthodox religious institutions. There is also an important collection concerning one of the biggest entailed rural estates in Poland (Ordynacja Zamojska). Well documented is the activity of state administration and local government in the period 1918-1939, as well as of the German occupation administration during the World War II. The State Archive in Lublin has also important Jewish collections (records of the Lublin kehilla and Judenrat as well as the Jewish vital records)."@en ;

rico:history "The state archive in Lublin was created for the first time in 1827 under the name of the Archive of Historical Records (Archiwum Akt Dawnych). In 1837 its most important holdings (records of the Crown Tribunal) were transferred to Warsaw. In 1887 the archive was dissolved and the documents transferred to Vilnius. The State Archive in Lublin was reopen according to the decree of the Regency Council from July 31, 1918. Its seat was the former convent of Visitation sisters at 10 Narutowicza street. After the World War II the holdings of the archive augmented after the incorporation of the municipal archive in 1950 and return of the historical records from Vilnius in 1962. In 1965 the archive was relocated to the building of the former Jesuit college."@en ;
