The archive in Bydgoszcz possesses the following kinds of holdings:

Archiwum Państwowe w Bydgoszczy
The archive in Bydgoszcz was created in 1906 and stored the documentation of the liquidated Prussian General Commission for the Provinces of Posen and West Prussia. In independent Poland (1918-1923) it was reorganized and named the"Archive of former General Commision in Bydgoszc". In 1924 it was included into the network of Polish archives as a branch of Poznań State Archive. In 1939 the Bydgoszcz archive was reorganized as a branch of Reischarchiv Danzig. In 1945-1947 the archive was again the branch of Poznań State Archive. From 1947 it worked as Voivodship State Archive in Bydgoszczm in 1983 was renamed the State Archive in Bydgoszcz.

The State Archive's holdings are available in the workroom open Monday and Wednesday -Friday 7.30 - 15.30, Tuesday 8.00 - 16.00
The access is regulated by Instruction No. 4 of the Head Office of State Archives in Poland, dated February 1, 2013.
From the beginning of its existence the Bydgoszcz archive works in the building of the former Prussian General Commission for the Provinces of Posen and West Prussia.
