Hoogheemraadschap van Schieland en de Krimpenerwaard
The Hoogheemraadschap of the Krimpenerwaard is about a century and a half younger than the Hoogheemraadschap of Schieland. It was established in 1430 after the Sint-Elisabethflood of 1421, when the need for care of the river dykes was recognised.
