Waterlands Archief
The Waterlands Archief was founded in 1979 as Streekarchief Waterland (Waterland Regional Archives), when the municipalities in the region agreed to let their historical archives and the statutory duties be managed by the archival institution. After the archives were moved to a new location in 2003 the name was changed to Waterlands Archief.
It is allowed to make your own photos of the materials, both analog and digital. If you are not able to do so, the reading staff will make reproductions of the materials, although there is a reproduction fee.

The materials of the Waterland Archief range from documents from the Waterland region regarding measures taken against Jews, to documents on war damage, and documents on the disclosure of information on Jewish and German students. The Waterlands Archief holds the archives of the municipalities of Beemster, Edam-Volendam, Landsmeer, Purmerend, Waterland and Wormerland and their predecessors; of the water boards in the region; of many notaries and private institutions, such as churches, companies and associations; and of families and individuals.
If you wish to consult the archives and collections of the Waterlands Archief it is required to register at the reception. To register you will need to show a valid ID.
