Stadsarchief Sittard-Geleen

In 2001, the municipality of Sittard-Geleen was created by merging Sittard, Geleen and Born. The area of the current municipality includes eight formerly independent municipalities. The archives of these former municipalities are kept in the Sittard-Geleen City Archive. Non-governmental archives are also housed here; archives of parishes and associations and archives and collections of local celebrities. Among them are the literary collections of Felix Rutten, Jacques Schreurs and Charles Beltjens. The city archive has an extensive library on the history of the region. The rich image collection (photos, negatives, postcards, slides) is currently being digitised and will be available for consultation on the Internet in the near future.
