Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας-Τμήμα Ιστορίας, Αρχαιολογίας και Κοινωνικής Ανθρωπολογίας

The University of Thessaly was founded in 1984 and elected the first Board of Rectors in 1998. Its administrative and academic centre is in the city of Volos. In order to serve the needs of the region of Thessaly, its first academic departments were based on agricultural, educational and technological sciences. In its initial phase of organization and operation there were eight Departments, with seven in Volos and one, the School of Medicine, in Larissa. Its present academic structure consists of sixteen departments, four faculties and all of which were founded by the end of 2000-2001.The Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology was founded in 1993 and accepted its first students in 1998.  

The department and its lab hold a number of local newspapers from the 20th century (1907-2003).  

The archival material covers the city of Volos and the region of Thessaly. 

The archival holdings are mainly accessible to staff and students of the department. The database is accessible to everyone via the website.
