The Regional Archives of Magnesia were founded as a Local History and Archives Centre in 1972. Later, in 1988, the Centre became the branch of the General State Archives for the region of the Prefecture of Magnisia.
There are charges for photocopying/digital output. Services free of charge: entry to the reading room; use of finding aids/catalogues/computers; assistance from staff. Some archival holdings have been digitized and are available for viewing and printing at no cost through the General State Archives website's Digital Archive Collections/Archives of Magnisia "Archeiomnimo"). Any copies a researcher purchases are for personal use only. Copyright permission must be sought for further reproduction or publication.

Administrative, juridical, educational, police, industrial, medical archives, correspondence files, photograph collections, maps and plans collections, newspapers and periodicals collections, postcards collection, books collection.
Thessalia, Magnisia, Volos and Sporades islands.
Photocopying is by request only and involves assessment by staff to determine if it is possible, with the item's preservation needs taking precedence. Digital cameras are allowed. The use of lap-tops is permitted. Researchers must seek the written permission of the archivist before publication of any material from the archival holdings, and the source must be acknowledged.
