Access to the reading room of the Archives départementales de l'Aube is free, subject to availability. It is subject to the possession of a reader's card, issued on presentation of an identity document. The card is valid for the duration of the calendar year in which it is issued and is strictly personal. Its use engages the responsibility of its holder. Many documents in the Departmental Archives are old and unique. To prevent any risk of theft and to preserve the documents, a set of rules applies to your research in the reading room. The following items must be left in the cloakroom (opposite the reception desk): -Outdoor clothing, -Bags and satchels, -Computer and camera cases, -All types of pens and markers (except pencils). -The consumption of food and drink is also forbidden in the reading room. A relaxation area is available in the hall of the Departmental Archives. Only paper, pencils, cameras and mobile phones (in silent mode) are allowed in the reading room.

The Archives carry out the following tasks: - Scientific and technical control of the archives of the Department's administrations and public services and their collection - the enrichment of the Department's memory through donations, deposits or purchases of documents of private origin; - the conservation of archives; - the classification of archives; - the communication of administrative and historical archives, in the reading room, by correspondence and on the Internet.
