Provinciaal Archief West-Vlaanderen

The Provincial Archives were founded in 1994 with the intention to manage and open up the written and / or digital archival heritage starting in 1794 up until today. 

The Provincial Archives of West Flanders is responsible for all documents created or received by the management bodies (Provincial Governor, Deputation, Provincial Council, Province Clerk, District Board), and various administrative and technical Provincial services. The Provincial Archives also hold a number of private archives.  

Admission to the reading room 'Fernand Peuteman' is free. Visitors must fill out a registration form on their first visit in a calendar year. In certain cases, a research statement (https://www.west-vlaanderen.be/sites/default/files/2018-12/3_2_Leeszaalreglement_bijl_1_onderzoeksverklaring.pdf) must also be completed.
