Mayor Arnold van Liere had the gigantic palace built between 1515 and 1520 in Brabant Gothic style. After the death of the owner, the city of Antwerp accommodated the 'English Nation' here, but they left after the Spanish fury in 1576. Since 1607, when the Jesuits established a boarding school here, education has been provided in the buildings. Today it is part of the city campus of Antwerp University."@en ;
