The Bosnian/Bosniak Institute was created as a result of 50 years of work of Adil Bey and his wife Tatiana in the collection, classification and systematization of different materials on Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically the historical, literary, journalistic manuscript, archives and documentation and folk treasures.
Its main tasks are the promotion of cultural heritage, and the culture of Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), as well as other nations with which Bosniaks have lived for centuries.
The Institute's activities consists of :
-Performing scientific research in cooperation with related institutions at home and abroad
-Maintenance and completion of the scientifically guided libraries and archives
-Organization of cultural events, scientific seminars, meetings, exhibitions, promotions and similar events
-Publishing - publishing of books, brochures and periodicals
The Bosnian Institute is open to all who are engaged in scientific work on the subject of cultural and political history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosniaks, as well as geopolitical and cultural context of the country and its people(s); to historians , politicians , students and journalists.
"The greatest treasure of the Bosnian Institute is the library, which has more than 90,000 library units, and whose wealth provides a unique opportunity for further research on Bosnia and Herzegovina and its past. There is also a collection of newspapers and magazines , as well as complete various vintages informative and professional periodicals from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Catalogue of the library is kept parallel in two systems, as classic files and as an electronic database (after the American library system EOS International Graphical Library Automation System). Library materials are categorized into several sections: Bosnica, Islamica, Croatica, Serbica, Yugoslavica, Balcanica, Emigration studies, Turkish studies and Judaica. The Institute has a rich collection of oriental manuscripts , containing 743 codes from 1125 works , including the world's unique manuscript An- nasab S - Sharif, one of the best Arab manuscripts written in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The manuscript was written (or copied) in 1621 by the dervish Mahmud. There is a rich collection of facsimiles of manuscripts and rare unique items classic and oriental works published by the Goethe Institute in Frankfurt"
