Theodor Kramer Gesellschaft (TKG)
Theodor Kramer Gesellschaft (Theodor Kramer Society) was established on March 6, 1984 to study the work and life of Theodor Kramer as well as to contribute to the dissemination of Exile and Resistance Literature. First chairman of the society was Erwin Chvojka, who at the time administrated Theodor Kramer's estate. Board members, among others, were Erich Fried, Bruno Kreisky und Hilde Spiel. The aim of the Theodor Kramer Society is to increase the awareness and understanding of the literature and culture of persons in exile. To this end, the Theodor Kramer Society began publishing the quarterly journal Zwischenwelt in 1984, as well as a yearbook by the same name in 1990. Moreover, in 1995 the Society established a publishing house to give exiled Austrian authors a platform for their works to appear. The publications of the Theodor Kramer Society enable the tangible reception of the culture and literature of exile through concrete individuals, their experiences and their works. Every publication by the Theodor Kramer Society is another step in the fight against anti-Semitism, xenophobia, the denial of history and forgetting.
