Kherson Stadtkommissar, City of Kherson
In September 1941, upon the establishment of the Nazi occupation regime in Kherson, a German civilian administration was installed in that city in the person of the Stadtkommissar, who in turn was subordinate to the Kherson Gebietskommissar (see the description of f. R-1824). The Stadtkommissar’s apparatus controlled the work of the Kherson city council, employment office, and other local institutions, ceasing activities in early 1944 as the front line drew closer.
