Halmi z Košíc  
The Halmi family from Košice was one of the most prominent Jewish families in the politcal, social and cultural life of the city in the period between 1867 and 1945. Members of the family magyarized their names from Hennefeld into Halmi in the 1890s. Béla and Félix Halmi Béla Halmi, both of them lawyers, were the founding members of the Hungarian National Party, a liberal political party in interwar Czechoslovakia. Their mother, Sofia Horovitz was the sister of the famous Jewish painter, Leopold Horovitz (1838-1917). The majority of the family members was murdered during the Holocaust.
