Bessarabian Regional Police Inspectorate. Police Headquarters Orhei
According to the 1918 act of union of Bessarabia with Romania, there was carried out a network of institutions that had the task of organizing the public order. Through the Romanian Government Decree of 1918 on the organization of the police, in each district there were opened and established Prefectures of Police and Special Brigades of Security. Police prefectures were subordinated to the Police and General Security Directorate of Romania, while the Special Brigades were subordinated to General Inspectorate of Security in Bessarabia. In 1929, the Police Prefectures and Special Brigades were reorganized in police Questuras headed by a Questor and a secretary with deputy attributions. Police Questuras were working under the supervision of the Regional Police Inspectorate in Bessarabia. In Orhei there were created two police institutions, namely: Police of Orhei City and Security Brigade. Orhei police had three divisions: Administrative, Criminal and Security. For the period June 28, 1940 - July 1941, Orhei police stops its activity, then it starts again to function until 1944, when it was abolished.
